New Constitution special meeting of members

Old handwritten document

We will have a Special General Meeting to be held on line with Zoom for Tuesday 9 March 730pm. It is expected to take no more than about 10 minutes.

The single agenda item for this meeting is as follows:

1. The PCC Committee proposes a revised and updated Constitution, to be considered for adoption and special resolution by the association members.

The proposed constitution can be viewed here:

The Act directs that a change of Constitution requires a special general meeting of members to accept by Special Resolution the proposal to adopt the new constitution. Three quarters of the votes cast must approve adoption.

21 days notice must be given to all members, hence the meeting will be held on 9 March.
We currently operate under the Fair Trading model constitution, which states that a quorum of 5 members is satisfactory to conduct the meeting.

We have reviewed the Fair Trading Model Constitution for Associations, and have made several changes to various sections.
Most changes are intended to simply align the constitution declaration and PCC’s current practice.

Notable proposals include:
– change of our financial year to 1 July through 30 June, with the AGM to be held as soon as practicable after 30 June.
– change in method of selecting committee members and office holders.
– limitation of President’s tenure to 2 consecutive years.

If you have any queries, objections or further recommendations, your submission is welcome to myself, CC the Secretary, prior to the meeting of 9 March.
