John SeedThis month, Permaculture Central Coast invites Australian environmentalist John Seed to explain the concept of deep ecology and how it binds us all together, human beings and nature. It also helps us have a different outlook on the way we conduct our life and on our true impact on the planet.

In a time when communities are coming together to save eagles nest, claim for ecologically valuable land to be National Park, or to oppose coal mining and coal seam gas, perhaps we can find solace and solutions in Deep Ecology and Permaculture.

Guest speaker: John Seed

John Seed is an Australian environmentalist and founder of the Rainforest Information Centre which successfully campaigned to save the sub-tropical rainforests of New South Wales. He is also a prominent figure in the deep ecology movement and co-creator of the Council of All Beings, and other re-earthing processes.

About Deep Ecology

Deep ecology is a contemporary ecological and environmental philosophy characterized by its advocacy of the inherent worth of living beings regardless of their instrumental utility to human needs, and advocacy for a radical restructuring of modern human societies in accordance with such ideas.
