Guest speaker: Meg McGowan
Meg discovered permaculture in her 20’s when she stumbled across Rosemary Morrow’s ‘Earth Users Guide to Permaculture’ in a Balmain bookshop. Although she had no garden to speak of, she was captivated by the philosophy and practical benefits of permaculture and has continued to study and apply it throughout her life. Meg is an experienced permaculture designer and trainer, widely recognised for her innovative methods and her commitment to achieving more permaculture on the ground. With her husband, Graham King, she co-created ‘Permacoach’, a hub for local designers wanting to teach people permaculture on their own properties. She is also involved in a range of community activities and teaches a PDC from her home in exchange for help with her garden. A published author, cartoonist, artist and coach, Meg sees permaculture as a pattern for the best way to be human.
In this fun and interactive presentation, Meg McGowan will introduce you to a macro pattern for remembering the ethics and principles of permaculture so that you can easily remember them and apply them in your life. This pattern simplifies which ever set of principles you prefer (Mollison/Holmgren/Morrow et al) to just five core concepts. If you have ever struggled to get your head around the foundations of permaculture, wondered how to quickly explain it to others or found yourself having to look up the principles because they were too complex to remember then you’ll appreciate this workshop. Meg’s five principles have been developed with feedback from David Holmgren, Nick Ritar (Milkwood), Rosemary Morrow, Dan Palmer and many other permaculture leaders. They are now taught in many introductory and advanced permaculture courses in Australia, Japan, Taiwan, Germany, France and the UK.

Tuggerah Hall, Anzac Road, Tuggerah, directly opposite Hungry Jacks – within easy walking distance of Tuggerah Railway Station.
Parking is across the road in the council carpark next to Hungry Jacks . Please do not park in the Pizza Inn carpark on the left-hand side and do not park in the Real Estate carpark on the right-hand side. Both venues need space for their customers in the evening.
