Miso is a delicious, fermented paste that adds a salty umami flavour to many dishes. It can be used in soups, dressings and any number of meals. Plus, it’s loaded with probiotics and important nutrients. Want to know more? Would you like to make your own miso?
Join Japanese cuisine instructor, Tomoko Oka, for this hands-on workshop where you will make miso using organic soybeans, Australian sea salt and Tomoko’s own homemade koji.
This 1 ½ hour course includes:
- a lesson on how to make traditional Japanese miso,
- how to cook various dishes using miso,
- tastings for 3-4 different kinds of miso and how to use them in recipes.
- Around 1 kg of miso (to take home and mature for 6 months before use)
- Recipe sheet for miso and recipes using your miso.
Participants will need to bring an apron and a jar (with airtight lid) that can hold about 1kg of miso.
The North Gosford address for this event will be emailed to participants.
The Miso Making Workshop will be held on Thursday 5th May 2022 from 11:00am to 12:30pm.
